Creating college opportunity together

Strive for College exists to ensure that every qualified student who wants to attend college has the opportunity to do so. We call these students “Strivers.”

In addition to our programs that help students at each step of the process, we partner with colleges and committed staff members to help you better recruit and retain Strivers through effective professional development, collaborative learning, and marketing opportunities.

In 2016, Strive for College merged with the Center for Student Opportunity, a peer nonprofit with a ten-year track record of success working with colleges and universities to promote and strengthen opportunities for first-generation college students. Recognizing that being the first in one's family to go to college requires inspiration, information, and support too often lacking for students without a family history of higher education, CSO launched the I'm First! project - an online campaign and college planning resource - in 2013 with the help of a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation sponsored College Knowledge Challenge grant. As a result of the merger, Strive for College now operates ImFirst.org, publishes the I’m First! Guide to College, and supports a growing community of college partners through effective professional development, collaborative learning, and marketing opportunities.
Individuals and institutions that share our mission and wish to participate in the Strive program are invited to apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and partnership can begin at any time.

Please apply by May 31 to ensure your inclusion in the next printing of the I'm First! Guide to College, released annually in September.
