a peer nonprofit with a ten-year track record of success working with colleges and universities to promote and strengthen opportunities for first-generation college students. Recognizing that being the first in one's family to go to college requires inspiration, information, and support too often lacking for students without a family history of higher education, CSO launched the I'm First! project - an online campaign and college planning resource - in 2013 with the help of a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation sponsored College Knowledge Challenge grant. As a result of the merger, Strive for College now operates ImFirst.org, publishes the I’m First! Guide to College, and maintains partnerships with colleges and universities across the country to strengthen and build awareness of their campus efforts supporting first-generation college students.
