New partnership supports colleges and universities seeking to better serve underserved student populations
with accessible, easy-to-use online engagement strategies
October 17, 2018
- National nonprofit Strive for College has entered into a partnership
with PlatformQ Education, the leader in building online engagement strategies for higher education,
to help colleges and universities better connect with traditionally underserved student populations.
Recent research from Eduventures and Ruffalo Noel-Levitz shows that video and texting are high impact
ways for colleges and universities to engage students. These studies, from two of the most respected and
reputable higher education think tanks, also indicate that the future definition of “college-bound” students will continue to evolve.
While undergraduate enrollment in the U.S. is down for the sixth straight year, it’s likely that first-generation
college students and students of color will begin to make up an even more significant portion of many college communities.
That’s why Strive is committed to helping colleges and universities better serve and support “Strivers” - students who identify themselves as either first-generation, a member of a traditionally underserved student population, or from a low-income community. In addition to connecting their nearly 200 college partners with Strivers through its flagship online mentoring program, Strive will begin to leverage PlatformQ’s Conduit platform to provide college partners with new online engagement opportunities targeting Striver populations.
“PlatformQ Education has revolutionized how students and schools engage,” says Matt Rubinoff, Strive’s Chief Strategy Officer. “This partnership will enable hundreds of our college and university partners to connect with thousands of talented and motivated Strivers in more deep and meaningful ways online.”
As part of this new partnership, Strive will begin to offer online presentations with college partners that are designed for Striver populations with live chats and streaming content available via desktop, mobile, and through PlatformQ’s Enhanced Simulcasting feature across major social media platforms (via Facebook Live, YouTube Live and Twitter via Periscope).
Additionally, Strive partners will have the opportunity to receive strategic consulting from PlatformQ on building and activating their own institutional-branded online engagement programs using the Conduit platform in support of Striver student populations.
